Walberg Votes for Increased Taxpayer Rights

Today, Rep Walberg voted in support of two bills to protect and expand taxpayer rights.

H.R. 3308, Taxpayer Transparency Act, requires the Administration to include a disclaimer on any advertisement paid for with taxpayer dollars. H.R. 3865, Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act, stops the IRS from issuing regulations targeting 501(c)(4) tax-exempt groups.

"We need to make Washington more accountable to hardworking taxpayers. These bills will allow Americans to see exactly how their hard earned tax dollars are being spent, when their tax information is shared, and protected from religious or political discrimination. said Rep. Walberg following the votes.

In addition to these measures, Rep. Walberg supported three other good government measures passed by the House this week:

H.R. 1423, Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act, requires each federal agency produce an annual report of how taxpayer dollars are being spent.

H.R. 2530, Taxpayer Transparency and Efficient Audit Act, requires the IRS inform taxpayers when it has shared their tax information with government agencies.

H.R. 2531, Protecting Taxpayers from Intrusive IRS Requests Act, protects taxpayers from being forced to answer questions about their religious or political beliefs.
